When are tryouts?
Boys' Knight Hoops tryouts for the 2024-2025 season will be held the week of October 7th. See the Boys Info page for details.
In the meantime, you can pre-register for both the Boys' Tryouts and Skills & Drills (boys and girls 3rd-6th grade) here.
* Lady Knight Hoops details can be found here.
Practices, when and where are they held?
Two practices per week (i.e. Tuesday/Thursday for boys and Monday/Wednesday for girls). Most practices will take place at KGG - Kings Garden Gym and MMG - Mike Martin Gym beginning in October.
How many players are on the team? How will my son or daughter know if they made the team?
We plan on each team having 10 players. In some cases we may carry an additional 1-2 'practice or part-time' players.
If my child does not make the team do you know of other programs or options?
Because of the need to limit team size, there are players who still want the opportunity to play. We strongly believe we need to help and assist those players in finding alternative programs so they can continue to play and improve. Sno-King and Alderwood Boys & Girls Club are both great local choices.
Is it a problem if my child plays another sport in addition to basketball during the season?
Participation in any select sport is a major commitment. In a skilled sport, such as basketball, it is no different. Making Knight Hoops Basketball the number one sports activity during the season is essential to ensure your son or daughter enjoys and gains as much out of the experience as he can.
How long is the season and when are the tournaments?
Practices begin in late October or early November. Our league, the Wesco Feeder League, games begins in early December and extends to the first weekend in March for the league playoffs. Typically we participate in the Juanita Thanksgiving Tournament and then one tournament over either MLK weekend or President's Day weekend.
What can you tell me about the WESCO Youth Feeder league?
The WESCO feeder league was formed to provide a competitive basketball experience for youths in 4th through 8th grade. Each of the ~20 programs in the league draws talent from the local High School in their area to prepare those kids with the essential basketball skills needed prior to entering high school. League games are typically played on Saturday with each team playing a maximum of two games in a weekend. For more information, please refer to the WESCO League Website: coming soon.
Where do we play our league games?
The league schedule will be available later in November. Our home games are played at King's Junior High Gym (King's Garden) and the King's High School Gym (Mike Martin). Our road games are typically played in the Middle/Junior and/or High School gyms of the other programs.
Playing time, how do the coaches determine who plays?
Since one of the goals of Knight Hoops is to offer a competitive basketball experience, our philosophy is that we will be "true to the talent." Playing time is earned on the basis of each player's effort, attention, attitude, commitment, teamwork, and ability displayed in practice. Those players with the best ability to combine these skills will receive that greatest amount of playing time. At the same time, it is also our mission to develop all of the players in the program. It is each coach's responsibility to help the kids improve their skills so that they can be competitive participants in games. So unlike rec-level programs, playing time is not guaranteed and fluctuates on a game to game basis.
Who are the 2024-25 coaches?
4th Grade Boys Coach - Rob Lee
5th Grade Boys Coach - Jacob Washburn
6th Grade Boys Coach - Mark Freise
7th Grade Boys Coach - Christian Lopez
8th Grade Boys Coach - TBD
